Sometimes, I'm such an idiot. I walked out the door without my ipod, first of all, came back and got it, and then realized .5 miles into the run when I was wheezing that I forgot to take my inhaler, and as I walked back in the door I remembered, hmm.. I forgot to tape my foot! I was just really distracted the entire run. I couldn't plan out a perfect 3 mile route, so I was checking my distance and my pace the entire time. I was happy though.. my pace was exactly 10:00 miles. The Disney race on Sunday does not allow people to run at a 12:00 pace, and even though I know I'll probably do consistent 10:00 miles, I hate having that extra pressure. The marathon doesn't have any limitations that I know of, and since it's more than a few weeks away, I feel a lot more confident about it.
I was so relieved this afternoon when I went to the sports medicine doctor at Children's Hospital, and found out that my injury is NOT a stress fracture!! Yayyy!!! He does think it has something to do with the plantar fascia muscle--whether it's a strain, or tendonitis. But! He thought that what I've been doing to treat it is great, highly recommends the acupuncture, and says I should be ok for this weekend. It was a very positive, encouraging visit, which is definitely what I needed mentally at this point.
